Birthday Boy!

Last Wednesday Hubs turned 27! We usually go out to dinner with both of our families, and call it good. But this year, I wanted to do something a little different. You see, Hubs feels like he never gets surprised. (and he's been complaining about being old!)
I was chatting with his sister on the phone, and she had brought up a concert in Reno, that would have been fun for all 4 of us to go to. It didn't mesh well with BILS (Brother in Law) schedule, so we nixed it. Then I had my Ahhh ahhhh ahhh ahhh moment. (I hope you all sang that as you read it,because I sang it as I typed it! LOL!)
I would surprise Hubs, and take him down to Grass Valley to spend 2 nights with his sister. I asked MIL to watch the boys, and I packed up a bag for the two of us. When he got home, Brax was very excited to give him his gift. In fact, he ran straight up to him, with the bag open, and yelled, "DAD, HERES YOUR NEW PLAYSTATION GAME!" I kinda feel like the surprise got ruined! LOL!
Then, I told him I had a little surprise I wanted to do with him before dinner. We hopped in the car, and got on the freeway. Naturally he assumed we were going to a) The Mall or b) Best Buy. This is where I got realllly lucky, He fell asleep. We were about 20 minutes from the California border when he woke up. He was so confused. He asked his questions, and finally, he guessed!
So, here are the pictures from our little day and a half getaway down south!

Rainy view of Lake Shasta!

View from Sis's porch! You would never know she is only 40 (ish) minutes from Roseville!

The boys playing some "shoot 'em up" at Dave and Busters!

The cute old Theater in Grass Valley

This street is lovingly named "the Orchard Ghetto". It could be the worst road I have ever traveled on. Its like CalTrans forgot it exists!

Cant go down south without stopping!!

Because everyone wants to see my burger!

Yes, I am that girl. Toe prints on the windshield!

It was such a fun little trip, but by the time we got home, we were ready to be with the kiddos again. :)

My Fawn And Flora!

I have a HUGE love for *Fawn & Flora*. So when I saw these cute little wooden push pins, I bought them. (I had no purpose for them at the time!) Then, I got a bunch of vintage buttons from my Great Grandma. As I was going through them, and cleaning them up and IT HIT ME! I am going to glue the buttons on, and tah dah! Cute push pins!

Here are my push pins! Order Them *Here*

My Mix of Vintage Buttons and some pretty colorful ones from Joanns!

 My Handy-Dandy Glue Gun!

All I did at this point, was put a little bit of glue on the head of the push pin, and put the button on. Once the glue dried, if there was an that poked through the button holes, I picked it off with my fingernail! (Technical right??)

Here are my pretty push pins! I am going to use them for my inspiration board, once my craft room is finished! I cant wait to use them!!

Its spring, and I am going to start fixing things up around this place, and making pretty decorations! Stay tuned for some fun tutorials!!

Easter Sunday!

So having both my family and Hubby's family in town makes our holidays crazy! We start off with our own little family, then go from one of our moms to the other moms. Easter was no different!
We had brunch at my moms!
Remember the Real LIfe Pintrest "Christmas Edition"? We made the same thing for Easter, but without the messiness. My mom accidentally bought seamless crescent roll dough. So, we compromised! We made it more like a little sandwich. It was delish!
Here are the little munchkins eating muffins!
Egg hunt at my mamas!
I was afraid he wouldn't get it!
Then, it was "Linner" at my MILS house. His whole side of the family came! Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, and Great Grammy!
Of course with this many kiddos, there was more egg hunting!!!
My boys, my lovely, and Me! :)

I hope everyone had a fantastic Easter also!

A Creative Wordless Wednesday!

OH LORDY! So I was just sitting down to find a WW picture, (because I am slacking today!) and
TAHDAH!
One walked right up to my lap.

Yes, that is my baby Bo, who, while i had my back turned for 2 minutes, grabbed a purple crayon, and ate it. Thank goodness for the inventor of non toxic crayons. I have an odd feeling I might be seeing purple diapers later, but don't worry, I'll spare you all the picture! ;)

Tuesday Beauty Link Up! :)

This week, over at {just.lovely.things}, Heather is talking about facial care. This is a biggie. I can slack on a lot of things, but taking care of my face is an absolute must. I used Proactiv for a while, but usually it dries my face out, really quick. Sometimes, I use bar soap if I'm in a pinch. BUT, my go to soap is Organix Ever Ageless Cherry Blossom Cleanser and Toner.

The one thing I really like about the cleanser, is that it isn't super foamy. My face feels silky clean, without the tightness feeling. I wash with a sponge, too. It was kind of an odd concept at first, kinda seemed like a dish sponge on my face, but, it cleans so well! MUCH better than the normal wash cloth.
The Cherry Blossom toner doesn't sting. {another feeling I hate!} I feel my face, super smooth, and refreshed. The smell is amazing. Its fresh and feminine.
When I need a good exfoliant, I use this sulfuric acid mask from ilike. I got it at a salon in Ashland, after an amazing facial. It feels so clean, and your skin totally glows afterwards.
Last but not least on my go to list, is an acne pen from Yes to Tomatoes.
Its a little roller ball, and you just rub it on your zit. It calms the redness a bit (unless of course, like me, you pick at it until its open, then rub it on... not so much!)

So there you have it. My go to beauty supplies that keep my face healthy. I am one to try anything once, What is your favorite face routine??

Sunday Slacker?? How about March Slacker! :)

I have a tremendously hard time balancing life. As a mommy and a wife, I tend to make sure that everyone else is taken care of, and if there is a smidge of time in there somewhere, I take it. The reality is though, there is always something that I should be doing. (yes, right now I should be doing laundry, and dishes. The boys are playing together for the moment, so I am squeezing out a post!) I feel guilty taking "me" time. I know, I know. I need it. Hubby tells me, friends tell me, my parents tell me, and other bloggers are always talking about what they do for themselves. I just haven't figured out how to get over that Guilt hump. (OK, I might be like a 12 year old boy, but that reminds me of something I would say after I've used the "headache" excuse for 4 days in a row! tehehe!)
I always wonder, how do "those" moms do it. We all know them, the ones with perfectly groomed children, who look smokin' hot, the ones whose house is immaculate at any point in the day, who take them for themselves. How? Someday, (hopefully soon) I will learn this balance. I will continue to try, and make myself a priority. But until then, I will probably be a hot mess if you see me out, my kids might have chocolate donut on their face, and my house definitely is NOT spotless. (oh, and I am sure there is 7 loads of laundry that at any given time, need to be done!)
No kiddo, There is NOTHING on your face! ;)
